Prepare To Pass The AMERICAN LITERATURE CLEP Exam!
The American Lit CLEP exam deals with the prose and poetry written in the US from colonial times to the present. It covers literary works, poetry, fiction, and nonfiction prose interpretation, and terms used by literary critics/historians. It emphasizes fiction and poetry, along with essay, drama, and autobiography.
Knowledge and Skills: The student is required to know authors, characters, plots, style, setting, themes in specific literary works, understand and interpret short poems or excerpts from long poems and prose works, know the historical and social settings of specific works, and the influences on their author, be familiar with critical terms, verse forms, and literary devices. The exam consists of 95 questions to be answered within 90 minutes.
